Wednesday, September 4th-Update

Today, the most exciting thing on the schedule was.....BOOTCAMP!  What kind?  IPAD bootcamp.  We started the process of learning all about the expectations from the school/district and how to use our ipads safely and appropriately.  They're pumped for more!

Tuesday, September 3rd-Update

We had a great day today! Here are some highlights:

  • Math - starting in our new math workbooks learning about equal groups in multiplication.
  • We are ALL Kinds of Smart!  - We read Thank You Mr. Falker and talked about how there are many different kinds of smarts out there, not just being good at reading or math.  We chose between 1-3 of the following and drew pictures of ourselves being that kind of smart.  You could be:
    • Art smart
    • Word smart
    • Body smart
    • Music smart
    • Self Smart
    • People Smart
    • Nature Smart
    • Math Smart
  • "It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it." is a quote from Nelson Mandela.  We created our own hands to decorate our hallway display. Can't wait for you to see them!

Day 2 Update=Great!!

We were BUSY today!!  We:

  • Read aloud some great books on the topic of Being "EWE". We read Woolbur, Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon which talk about the importance of being yourself and celebrating your uniqueness. (We read Sweety yesterday, which was also a great tie-in here!!)

  • Explored the reading corner (The Good Little Book was used to introduce the fabulousness of reading and the power of a good book). Our students already explored some of the classroom library and found some books they were interested in reading.

  • Took a tour of the new parts of the building for our morning brain break.  We even saw the cool outside courtyard that had some neat benches and Ms. Casselle let us take a peek into a 4th grade classroom.

  • Introduced Class Dojo, which we decided would be our way to monitor our positive behavior and any reminders we might need.  (Eventually, a parent component to this will be available as well!)

Thanks to those parents who have had a chance to fill out their student contact sheet and blog permission slip already!  You're awesome!!

More info coming soon!
