Monday - Math Test - hopefully everyone had a chance to study the study guide from last week and any old quizzes/homework.  There will be a sub in the afternoon while I work with the 3rd grade team on plans for October.
Tuesday - Science Test - the students will be able to use their science notes on the test about seeds and plants.
Friday - Picture Day!  Please make sure to send in the order form and payment before Friday.

Dates to Remember!

Author Visit on Monday, Sept. 30th.  If you'd like to purchase the book, please send money and order form in by this Friday.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.  I will confirm your times this week.  There is no school in the afternoon on Thursday, October 10 and Friday, October 11th (students done at 11am).

Field Trip to Morton Arboretum: Thursday, October 24th - more details on cost, chaperones to come!

Halloween Parade and Party: Thursday, October 31st - I'll be in touch with room parents regarding party.

Homework for Week of 9/23-9/27:

9/23 - Spelling - write 10 spicy sentences; Math worksheet R1.8 & P1.8
9/24 - Spelling - write 10 more spicy sentences; Math - review for test Thursday
9/25 - Spelling worksheet; Math -review for test Thursday
9/26 - Study for spelling test Fri

MAP Math Test - Wednesday (those who haven't finished MAP Reading will finish on Mon or Tues)

9/9/13 - Finish math worksheets (not completed in class).  Write 10 spicy sentences using first 10 spelling words in your 'Wonderful Words' journal.

ANOTHER UPDATE: MAP testing for reading will be in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 18th and MAP testing for math will be in the morning on Wednesday, September 25th.  Please make sure your child is well rested and well fed prior to the testing.
Also, Open House/Curriculum night is Tuesday, September 10th.  3rd grade parents will meet at 6:30 pm in the auditorium for an all-grade meeting, then move to the classrooms for a small-group meeting with me.  Once our meeting is over, you are free to tour the school.  I will have sign up sheets for conferences, room parents and room volunteers.  I am looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday night!

9/5/13 Homework: Finish any Math Worksheets that were not finished in class. Study for Week 1 Spelling Test (First Day Jitters) on Friday.

Please don't forget to send your child to school each day prepared for success! That means they need to get a good night sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, bringing a healthy snack (nut free) and a water bottle.
Library day is Wednesday, so make sure books are returned on time.
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday, so make sure they wear comfortable clothes (girls-shorts under skirts) and gym shoes.
Spelling Tests will always be the last day of the week, so please remind students to study their words.

IMPORTANT - MAP Testing begins next week!  Our tests will be in the afternoon on Monday, September 9th and Monday, September 16th.
SAVE THE DATE -Open House/Curriculum night is Tuesday, September 10th.  More specifics to come!
