Science-Bring a Lego guy (or a doll of the same size-a couple inches is all)  If you have extras and don't mind bringing for a day, that'd be great!

Recorder money is due tomorrow (so that they can get a recorder by Thursday's music class)

Timelines need to be at school tomorrow (some can't find theirs and think it's at home-others may need to rewrite them).

Books for book trailer projects need to be at school by tomorrow (unless books have already been returned to the public/school library)

Tell a Story in Order

When telling a story, start at the beginning.  This may not be the beginning of your day.  If the event happened in the middle of the day, start there.  Introduce enough of the event so that we have some background, but we don't need to know about your breakfast (if it's got nothing to do with the main part of your story).

For example:

This was the big day of our youth group field trip.  Me, Adam, Roxanne, and some other friends were going to the Amlings Haunted House.  It was cool because they had carnival rides as well.  After going through the haunted house (and listening to Adam scream like a girl) we came outside to enjoy some rides.  Even though I was nervous, I went on the RING OF FIRE twice and was surprisingly fine.  You see, I’m one of those that gets motion sickness, and I mean really bad.  I thought my good luck would continue on the Tilt-a-Whirl, but BOY was I wrong!

Bright Beginnings in Writing

Capture my readers’ attention: Bright Beginning
·        It started off with a breakfast of scrambled eggs.  Normally, you wouldn’t care what I ate for breakfast, but unfortunately, today it matters.
·        Have you ever been on a tilt a whirl before?  Some think its fun, but it ended up not being so fun for me.
·        BARF!  That was pretty much the highlight of my day at the Amlings Haunted House.
·        Have you ever gotten so embarrassed that you didn’t think you could show your face again at school?  I have.  It all started with a breakfast of scrambled eggs…
·        One of the worst days of my childhood started off with a breakfast of scrambled eggs…

Homework April 1, 2013

Spelling-First 10 words in spicy sentences

Reading-WORD ART of spring break.  Students can use wordle.net to create a computer generated word art (with your permission) or they can create one using plain paper.  Their main words should describe their break.  The bigger the word, the more important or more often the activity occurred over break.  They've created a wordle with me at school, and we went over this extensively so hopefully they understand what to do.
